What happens to what you type

What is stored

The properties, transactions, receipt images and generated packages you enter, and the email address you sign in with. Nothing else.

Receipts and generated packages live in private storage under your own user folder. Every row in the database carries your user id and is readable only by you. The database enforces that, not just the app.

What is not collected

No bank connections, no credentials for any other service, no social insurance number, no tenant records beyond a label you type yourself.

Nothing you enter is sent anywhere to be read by a machine unless you ask for it. The one place a document leaves storage is the scan below, and only for the document you pressed Scan on.

Rentdocket does not file anything with the Canada Revenue Agency and has no connection to your CRA account.

Address suggestions

Typing a property address offers suggestions from OpenStreetMap, looked up through a free public service. What you have typed so far is sent to make the match — nothing else goes with it, and the request is made by our server, so the service never sees your device or who you are.

It is a convenience, not a requirement. Ignore the suggestions and type the address yourself and nothing leaves at all.

Reading a receipt for you

Pressing Scan on a receipt or a statement sends that one document to Anthropic's Claude service, which reads it and sends back the date, total, and vendor it found. Our server makes the request, so the service never sees your device or who you are, and the document is sent only for the scan — it is not used to train a model.

It happens per document and only when you ask. Nothing is scanned in the background, nothing is scanned on upload, and a document you never press Scan on never leaves storage.

What comes back is a draft, not an entry. Rentdocket shows you what it read and files nothing until you confirm it, so a figure you never saw can never reach your ledger or a tax package. If the scan fails, the form is the ordinary one and you type it yourself.

Waitlist emails

An address given to the beta list is used to send one message when the beta opens. It is not sold, and it is not used for anything else.

Deleting your data

Deleting a property removes its transactions and receipts. Generated tax packages are permanent records by design and are deleted separately, on purpose — each one from its own page. A package you may have filed from shouldn't vanish because a transaction changed.

Closing the account deletes the sign-in and everything under it — properties, transactions, receipt images and every generated package — permanently, and at once. It is on the account page and needs nobody's help. Download any package you want to keep before you do it; afterwards there is nothing left to recover.
